Earthquakes
During an earthquake:
| During an earthquake when in a
building go to the corner of a room, doorway or
under a large desk or table. Stay away from windows
mirrors or shelves. |
| During an earhquake while outside
get out in the open away from buildings, trees or
power lines. |
| During an earthquake when in a
large building, stay away from windows and outside
walls. Do not use elevators. Crouch under a sturdy
table or desk. |
| During an earthquake when driving,
pull to the side of the road and stop. Avoid power
lines and overpasses. Stay in the car until the
quake stops. |
| During an earthquake in a crowded
place, do not rush for the doors. Crouch and cover
your head. |
After earthquake:
| Be prepared for after-shocks (tremors
after quake) |
| Turn off electricity, gas and water |
| Stay off roads unless urgent, keep
roadways clear for emergency personel. |
| Stay alert of news reports via
a battery operated radio. |
| Do not approach downed power lines. |
| Do not drink water. |
| Check for buildings damage. |
