Pool Safety

- Children should never be left unattended in the pool area
- Be sure baby-sitters are familiar with pool safety issues
- Post pool rules in a visible area
- Keep a phone in the pool area for easy access
- Regularly check that the gate latches securely
- Keep house doors locked
- Keep pool gates and securely closed and latched
- Learn CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resucitation)
- Do *not* answer the phone while children are in the pool
- Keep lifesaving equipment in the pool area
- Post CPR instructions and emergency instructions in the pool area
- Don't rely on "floaties" to protect children in the water
- Designate a child watcher, when you have family or friends over
- Keep chairs and tables away from pool fences.
- Do not use glass containers near swimming pools
- Empty wading pools when not in use
